My family’s story in Lewis County goes back generations.

My family’s story in Lewis County goes back generations.
In 2014, as my grandmother Gladys Frase approached her 100th birthday, she shared some of that story with The Chronicle.
She came to Lewis County as a three year-old in 1918, traveling by Model T to Onalaska before finishing the trip by wagon to her family’s new home in Cinebar.
Years later, she married my grandfather, Gene Frase, whose family had settled in the Onalaska area in 1889. They built their home on Pigeon Springs Road before their wedding in 1940, and my grandfather later operated a small sawmill on the property for decades.
Six generations of the Frase family have lived on that same land.
That history means a lot to me. I grew up here. My father served with the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. My wife and I are raising our son here, and I’ve spent 24 years serving the people of Lewis County through that same Sheriff's Office.
That’s also a big part of why I’m running for Sheriff. I care deeply about the future of this county and the kind of community we leave to the next generation. I want Lewis County to remain a safe place where families can put down roots, build a life, and be proud to call home.
My grandmother said it best when she was nearly 100:
“I’m satisfied to be right here. I’ve really had a good life.”
I want future generations to be able to say the same.
Integrity. Leadership. Experience.
